Last night, I got a call from my best friend in high school, asking me if I would go home next weekend to attend her son’s baptism. Like all our sporadic conversations, this one turned into a nostalgia trip, with the two of us recounting all the fun, adventures, and antics with the rest of the high school gang.
Of course, we winded up talking about me moving to California and them staying in Oregon. I don’t want to appear like some big city girl, so I tell her that there are times when I just want to go back to a simpler life, without the hustle and bustle of living in the Bay area. But she did confide in that despite her contentment of the life she has chosen for herself, she feels like she just settled for the easy life. I could still remember how we would spend endless days deciding whether to move to Hollywood or New York after high school. She was class vice president and captain of the debate team, and was even voted ‘most likely to employ her classmates.’ I, who was only a photographer of the school paper, ended up in sunny California.
This got me thinking about the idea of settling. Is the idea of settling just an easy way out? I’d like to think that when someone settles for something among a bunch of options, there must be a good reason. But then again, why settle when you can have something better? The fact that you consider something you did as ‘settling’ connotes the idea of convenience and comfort, which for me, just doesn’t cut it.
Anyway, I digress.
I am actually thinking of car restoration. Quite long-winded, huh? But not really, because choosing a facility to repair your car in case of damage is a scenario conducive to settling. With so many issues you have to deal with regarding a damaged car, the option to settle for the cheapest or nearest repair center instead of exploring all the options is very tempting.
But I dare say no. Settling for car repair is just not a good option, at least for me. You have to look for a body repair shop that can do more than just make your vehicle 'drivable' again. Your car should be as great as it was before any damage happened to it, and just any repair center can’t do that.
When you are in San Mateo, you should come across or be referred to D&D Body Shop, with I-CAR-Gold certified car repair experts and state of the art facilities. The overall restoration of your car is in all the details, from a restorative paint job to windshield repair, and that’s what D&D is best in – restoring even the smallest details of your car, leaving no stone unturned. Do not settle for less; get your damaged car back to its former glory with D&D.
And so, I shall make that 6-hour drive to Oregon next week with full confidence, knowing that I haven’t settled for just any repair center. D&D’s got my back, and it makes all the difference because I know they won’t do just an okay job, but an excellent one.
